Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-07-05
1. Agreement to These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Cereal website, desktop application, marketplace, developer portal, and related services (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Cereal Automation ("Cereal," "we," "us," or "our"), based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
By creating an account, downloading the desktop app, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Definitions
- Platform — the Cereal software and infrastructure as a whole, including the website and hosted services.
- Desktop App — the Cereal client for macOS, Windows, and Linux, which is free to download and runs scripts locally on your device.
- Marketplace — the storefront where developers publish scripts and users subscribe to them.
- Script — an automation program published to the Marketplace and run through the Desktop App.
- Developer — a user who publishes one or more Scripts to the Marketplace.
- Subscription — a recurring paid plan that grants you a license to download and run a specific Script.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the authority to enter into these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that organization.
4. Your Account
To use most features you must create an account and provide accurate, current information. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
For security, Cereal enforces a single active session per account: only the most recently authenticated session remains valid, and signing in elsewhere ends earlier sessions. Accounts are personal — you may not share, sell, or transfer your account or credentials to allow others to use paid Scripts under your Subscription.
Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
5. The Desktop App and License to Use
Cereal is local-first: Scripts run on your own machine, and your credentials, proxies, and automation data stay on your device. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the Desktop App for its intended purpose.
You may not reverse engineer, decompile, tamper with, or circumvent the licensing, code-signing, or verification mechanisms of the Desktop App or any Script, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
6. Marketplace and Scripts
The Marketplace lets you subscribe to Scripts published by Cereal and by third-party Developers. Scripts are made available under a per-Script license, and access is verified by the Platform.
Scripts published by third-party Developers are their own content. While we operate the Marketplace and apply review and security measures, we do not author every Script and do not guarantee that any Script will meet your needs, remain available, or be error-free. Your use of a Script is between you and the responsible Developer, subject to these Terms.
7. Billing, Subscriptions, and Payments
Paid Scripts are offered as Subscriptions with monthly or annual recurring billing. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe; by subscribing, you also agree to Stripe's applicable terms. Prices are set by the Developer (minimum €1.00) and are shown before you subscribe.
Unless stated otherwise, Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel a Subscription at any time through the Platform; cancellation stops future renewals and your access continues until the end of the current paid period. Some Scripts offer a free trial, whose length is set by the Developer; unless cancelled before it ends, the trial converts to a paid Subscription.
You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your purchases where required by law.
8. Refunds
You may request a refund within 48 hours of purchase provided you have not activated the Script's license. Once a license has been activated, refunds are at the discretion of the Developer and are handled through the developer portal. Nothing in this section limits any statutory rights you may have as a consumer under applicable law.
9. Developer Terms
If you publish Scripts, the following also applies. There are no listing fees, monthly costs, or charges to publish — Cereal takes a 30% platform fee on each transaction and you keep 70%. Payouts are made monthly via a connected Stripe account and include completed transactions from the previous calendar month, less the platform fee; amounts subject to pending disputes or refunds are held until resolved.
You are solely responsible for the Scripts you publish, including their functionality, legality, security, and support, and for handling post-activation refund requests. You represent that you have all rights necessary to publish and license your Scripts and that they do not infringe the rights of others or violate these Terms. We may remove Scripts, or suspend Developer accounts, that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are built for fraud or abuse.
10. Acceptable Use
Cereal is a general-purpose automation platform — you decide what it runs and where. You agree to automate within the rules and, in particular, not to:
- Use the Service to break the law or to defraud, deceive, or harm other people;
- Violate the terms of service of any third-party website or service you automate, or ignore reasonable request-rate limits in a way that degrades others' access;
- Infringe intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any person;
- Distribute malware, or use Scripts to gain unauthorized access to systems or data;
- Interfere with, overload, or attempt to circumvent the security or licensing of the Platform.
You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with the terms of any service you automate and with the laws of your jurisdiction. Scripts built for fraud or abuse are not welcome on the Marketplace.
11. Intellectual Property
The Platform, the Desktop App, and all related software, branding, and content (excluding third-party Scripts and user content) are owned by Cereal or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in our trademarks or branding. Developers retain ownership of the Scripts they publish, subject to the licenses granted through the Marketplace.
12. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party providers (for example, Stripe for payments) and may let you automate third-party websites and services. We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any Script will produce particular results.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cereal will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid to Cereal for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Cereal harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, and reasonable expenses arising from your use of the Service, your Scripts or content, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party rights.
16. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or its users. On termination, the licenses granted to you end; sections that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) continue to apply.
17. Changes to the Service and These Terms
We may modify or discontinue parts of the Service, and we may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be subject to the competent courts of the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer-protection law grants you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
